Brought to Life

So, I did this for the I Dream contest here on DA. The theme was (roughly) to draw your dreams in an anime/manga style.

Well, since I want to become a video game character artist, I decided to revolve my drawing around that concept. Becoming a concept artist would be like bringing my characters to life, which is what is happening here. My characters Ruben Aran and Kyoko Tumura are standing behind me, watching as Maiee is being draw out of the paper, being brought to life.

As far as the image itself, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Granted, I rushed on bits of the background because I only had a week to finish this before I leave for the beach (not including when I had to work or was busy), so needless to say my time on this was hard-pressed. It doesn't really bug me though, because I wanted the main focus to be on the people, not the background.

Despite the rush, I'm really happy with how it turned out. I tried a lot of new techniques that I really like. And for the record, yes that is me, and yes that is my actual room at home (minus a lot of other junk I have lying around, just because it would have taken too long to finish the drawing if I had included everything). I know there are probably some perspective errors. As usual, I had to wing it because I didn't have a reference (if the viewer was in the picture they would technically be one with my bedroom wall).
